Foundation Wrestling takedowns
01

Takedowns & mat control from day one.

Every class starts with the fundamentals — shots, sprawls, and the positional awareness that separates wrestlers from everyone else on the mat. We drill technique before intensity, so beginners build real skills instead of just surviving.

  • Single-leg & double-leg takedowns
  • Sprawl defense & counter-attacks
  • Tie-ups, hand fighting & setups
  • Bottom position escapes

Ready to compete — when they're ready.

Competition is optional, never forced. But when your kid is ready, we prepare them for it — match simulation, tournament strategy, weight management education, and the mental game that separates medal winners from spectators.

  • Match simulation rounds
  • Tournament strategy & mindset
  • Age-appropriate conditioning
  • Team travel to regional events

The base for every combat sport.

There's a reason every MMA champion has a wrestling background. Takedown offense and defense is the most transferable skill in martial arts. Kids who wrestle have a massive advantage in BJJ, MMA, and self-defense situations.

  • Direct carryover to BJJ & MMA
  • Best self-defense foundation
  • NCAA & Olympic scholarship pathway
  • Cross-train freely with your membership

Parents ask. We answer.

Everything you need to know before your kid hits the mat.

What age can my child start wrestling?
We accept kids starting at age 5. At younger ages, classes focus on movement, coordination, body awareness, and basic positions through games and partner drills. As they mature, technique and live wrestling are introduced progressively.
My kid has never done any sports. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Many of our strongest wrestlers started with zero athletic background. Wrestling builds coordination, strength, and confidence from scratch — it doesn't require them as prerequisites.
Will my child get hurt?
Safety is our top priority. Classes are supervised, technique is taught before live wrestling, and kids are matched by size and experience level. Wrestling is a contact sport, but our injury rate is extremely low because we emphasize proper technique and controlled training.
Does my child have to compete in tournaments?
No. Competition is completely optional. Many of our wrestlers train purely for fitness, discipline, and self-defense. For those who want to compete, we have a structured competition team with regular tournament opportunities.
What does my child need to bring?
For the first class, just athletic clothes (shorts/t-shirt) and a water bottle. No shoes needed — we train barefoot on the mat. If they continue, we'll recommend wrestling shoes and headgear for more advanced training.
Can my child also do BJJ or other programs?
Yes — and we encourage it. Your membership gives access to all programs. Wrestling and BJJ complement each other perfectly, and many of our best grapplers cross-train in both.

Once you've wrestled, everything else in life is easy.
